What You Need To Know About The Countertop Process

Scheduling

After paying your deposit and signing your quote you will be contacted with a template date. After your templated and after you have signed your final quote you will be contacted for an installation date. Of you are not contacted please call the office. Lack of readiness at template may result in a delayed installation date.

During Your Template

This is a VERY important part of your countertop project; we will confirm all details of your project at this time. A decision-maker over the age of 18 must be present while we template and must be responsible for approving all details. All items must be removed from the countertops. No changes can be made after template. All areas must be ready for template at the same time. There will be trip charges for multiple phases and trips.

Sinks, Faucets, & Appliances

Items to be coordinated with your countertop must be on the job site prior to template and your sinks delivered to us with your faucet specifications. Farm sinks must be installed at template. Not having your sink at the time of template will delay your project, no changes can be made to any specifications after the template is complete. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure the sink fits inside of the sink cabinet.

During Installation

ALL cabinets, corbels, supports, panels, etc. must be permanently secured to the walls and/or floor and in their final position at the time of template. It is the responsibility of the contractor/homeowner to ensure that the cabinets are level and supports are present, as well as any decking requirements.

Tear Out

We do not template on existing countertops. It is the responsibility of the homeowner or contractor to do the tear out and disposal of old countertops prior to template.

During Installation

Our installers are moving heavy material, you should avoid the work area and provide safe access to the jobsite. After installation, we will clean the immediate area and leave the jobsite in “broom swept” condition. Installation of countertops is a construction process and dust should be expected. You may want to drape or cover areas to isolate the work area. All stove and plumbing connections must be disconnected by others prior to arrival and appliances removed to allow access for install. Gargoyle is NOT a licensed plumber or electrician.

Seams

No guarantees can be made regarding seam placement. Customer allows fabricator to govern where seams may apply at their discretion. Seam location and frequency is influenced by the material direction, countertop configuration and installation requirements.

Surface Quality

The surface quality of each individual stone type will have its own set of characteristics. Some stones have pitting, fissuring, fill spots, etc. With your stone inevitably you will have things which you may perceive as imperfections, blemishes, and flaws. It is important to closely inspect the desired goods upon selection.

Cutouts

Most items we produce require cutouts. The material removed is declared waste, treated as scrap, and not part of your finished product.
